I think this is a good idea.

I suggest three hosts in this order:

http://releases.ubuntu.com
(if this fails the LAN is having problems)
 http://gb.releases.ubuntu.com
(if this fails, a very near to Canonical DC network is down)
http://se.releases.ubuntu.com
(if this fails, internet connection is unreliable)
