Bug Description

Symptoms
========

Visit any Launchpad team mailing list archive page, or archived message page.

Most of the launchpad UI widgets and facilities are missing.

An example page with the problem showing is <http://lists.launchpad.net/ayatana>.

Cause
=====

This is because mhonarc, our archiver, generates static files on disk and it is very time consuming to give it more of our look and feel : to do so currently involves porting it to zope or reimplementing our UI.

Solutions
=========

We are looking at giving our rendering engine reliable access to additional data sources over-and-above the postgresql database. This if combined with a mhonarc change to output structured data rather than html would allow us to integrate mhonarc into our main UI, no reimplementation needed.

Is there an estimated rollout date for the fix for this bug? Or is it supposed to have landed already?

Its not fixed; I'm not sure what happened - probably a confused link interacted with auto closing scripts.

Curtis has massively improved the list archives, but the tab etc aren't there. Perhaps they don't need to be.

We are waiting for the admins to address bug 750551 which is also rt #45081. All existing archives need to be regenerated.

Launchpad's standalone applications like logger head and mailing lists will not get navigation or features that imply the user is on the same with the same behaviour.

I'm taking this out of wontfix as we're working up a story on how we can efficiently integrate mailman and other heterogeneous services in our web UI without having to port them to zope.
