If someone makes a comment in a Launchpad bug report, including the URL to an external bug report, Launchpad will create a bug watch for the external bug report. The bug watch, and its status and importance, are shown in a "Remote bug watches" box.
It would be simpler if this box was not present, and the status and importance of the remote bug report were instead shown right where the person had actually entered the link.
If this was done, bugwatch editing pages (+watch) would no longer exist either, so the only way to remove a bugwatch outside the "Affects" table would be to edit or delete the comment (bug 1734, bug 80895).
