First of all, I have to admit that none of the development team knows very much about translations, so bear with us.
When I bundled translations with 0.92.3 I downloaded them all as .mo files. If I understand correctly, that means they are compiled and the character encoding cannot be changed. Perhaps I should have used .po files?

Test this for me: download the Arabic translation and replace the locale/ar files in the Keryx directory with those files. I would suggest trying both .mo and .po files. /translations. edge.launchpad. net/keryx/ stable/ +pots/keryx/ ar/+export
