Thanks to a colleague of mine (Mitch) I finally found a solution:
Simply set the "Global Kernel Parameters - Boot parameters to pass to the kernel by default" (settings of MAAS) to
net.ifnames=0 biosdevname=0
With this settings interfaces are not renamed but left as ethX
