Oh, great, didn't realize that this was already in Preferences! Would be nice if it could be easily done "on the fly" though. Because depending on the complexity of the drawing in evolution or the level of detail one is working on at a certain moment, these settings need to be easily adjustable.
So finally my feature request becomes: put Edit>Preferences>Rendering>Quality settings in menu View>Display mode. Now that seems doable, right?
I wouldn't distinguish between Blur and Filter quality, just one global "Rendering quality" setting from 1 (low) to 5 (high quality).

Additionally: would it be feasible to also have an "Auto" setting? Meaning: let Inkscape choose the quality so that rendering time is always, say, 1 second max? (This "1s" would then be modifiable in preferences).
