I have just tested unclutter, and my recommendation is that it *not* be included in the default install or session. It does not solve the problem, and it introduces new problems.
Example 1: With unclutter running, click in an OpenOffice.org or AbiWord document, and start typing. The cursor should disappear instantly. It takes five seconds, by which time any benefit is lost, because you've typed out of range of the cursor anyway.
Example 2: Click in Firefox's search field and type a word or two. The cursor should disappear instantly, but it *never* disappears.
Example 3: Paint a brush stroke in Gimp, then pause for a few seconds considering your next stroke. The cursor disappears, and the status bar text changes distractingly. Neither should happen.
