XSane will soon be replaced by Gnome-Scan which has a tango-fied icon that matches the icon theme.

It is easy to change the icons yourself by using the menu edit option and selecting a new svg icon.

I agree the icons do need some work and I think the standard SVG icon size needs to be set higher, I have a lot of nice tango icons that are simply blurry when the size is increased.
