This story was quite interesting, fuelled by morbid curiosity. Although it dealt with the unpleasant subject of death, in an even more unpleasant way, I felt I should have cared even more for the death of Mrs Day and Fluffy.
I understood it was unpleasant but I wasn't particularly saddened by the loss of Fluffy. Maybe you should add a little bit more, or an aside that makes us care for Fluffy even more. Better yet if Mrs. Day is included in the aside I'd have more feelings for her too.
I've thought it possibly that you do not want to upset the reader to much since the death is so unpleasant. What are your thoughts?
