Do you have to recompile after every kernel upgrade?

I can't seem to have this autoload from my bashrc file, here are the relevant lines:

# Adobe Acroread Zombie Workaround
export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/local/bin/acroread_exec_monitor.so

What am I missing?
