I'd like to also add that putting in something like this isn't usually by a motivated developer. It's by a developer whose told by his boss or manager to implement this feature. This is why windows and mac os x has a proper clipboard. The developers have to implement it or they're fired. Despite what some people may think, Microsoft and Apple are motivated by features that their customers want. But they're also motivated to provide basic features that they know their customers will just expect them to implement, such as the clipboard.
