Apparently I made somebody angry, because they subtracted from karma, which I do not believe in, in the first place. - Open source should also allow for open mind.
I believe in fast & stable apps & intelligent, logical programs.
The Main Menu in Ubuntu has way to many flaws, & that for many years now.
It has not kept up with modern improvements, as the rest of Ubuntu. - Examples:
1.) It takes longer to open, then log-out, log-in, or warm boot back to Maverick. -
Main Menu should auto-start, & be ready to use as soon as the desktop is fully on the monitor!
2.) "Edit Menus" function is unbelievably slow, awkward, agonizing & archaic, only one item at a time can be
moved, some items refuse to move all together; icons are missing at times, & can take many minutes to
manually find, since someone has removed the icon viewer which was a wonderful app.
3.) The more one tries to edit the Main Main, the more does the program fight one, until it totally refuses to
work correctly.
4.) One finally gives up, & ends up with sky high menus, which when they get too high must be scrolled, except,
that the items on the bottom of the scroll cannot be selected, unless one presses & holds the <Ctrl> key
& uses the mouse at the same time.
Main Menu does not just have bugs, it really needs to be replaced to become an easy, modern app, that will improve the Ubuntu experience, a really open & friendly menu that will snap to the needs of the modern user.
[sorry, but no attachment or patch can truly fix the archaic Main Menu, I stand by my comment of 2011-02-13.]
I have confidence, that the Ubuntu Masters can revolutionize a menu better then any other OS.
