Comment 14 for bug 190848

I would like to report that the workaround (moving/renaming /etc/fonts/conf.avail/53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf) does not work for me. It does not matter if I use the nvidia or nv driver on my system, and sub-pixel hinting does nothing for the font in GNOME terminal, no matter what setting is being used (even off).
