Bug Description

Similar to #324990 .

When starting Do and using a plugin that needs the keyring (e.g. Google Docs) a keyring prompt appears. From that moment on Do and the keyring-thing will run in parallel and block each other so that the UI becomes inaccessable. By killing Do from the console work can be continued without problems.

This issue does not occur when affected plugins are disabled. - I see this as a bug in Do rather than the plugins.

This also seems to occur in any situation where Do and a GNOME keyring prompt are thrown up at the same time (e.g. when users log in with a fingerprint reader, requiring a keyring unlock at startup).

If i login via fingerprint reader on my IBM T43, i get the dealock. If i login via normal password, i dont.

So, things are not the same in Gnome when you login via fingerprint reader, og normal password. I dont get the password keyring promt, when loggin in via password. I do when using fingerprint reader.

Yeah. When you log in with your password you also unlock your keyring,
because that's using the same password. When you login with your
fingerprint the keyring doesn't get unlocked because it hasn't had
access to your password.

Shouldnt the fingerprint give access to your password?
Is the fingerprint considered less secure then a text password?

But still, theres a deadlock that needs to be fixed between Gnome Do and the keyring form.

This bug was reported in 2010, and still not Assigned ?

Im not a CS developer, so its hard for me to help. But when looking through the code, it looks like Do initializes the pluginmanager.

   PluginManager.Initialize ();

in Gnome-do-0.9/Do/src/Do.cs [line 52]

Could it be, that the keyring is blocking this?

I have an old IBM thinkpad T43 with a fingerprint reader. I'm more then willling to help testing this.
Im running Fedora 16 on it. If you want to fix this and need a hand (finger), write me at henrik at softica dot dk...
Its easy to test with a fingerprint reader.
