When building dee, if $CFLAGS and $CPPFLAGS are set as environment variables, configure (at least at the final summary output) will show "Extra CFlags" as values of $CPPFLAGS. While this is not a build breaking flaw, this can lead to further binary payload control (with optimizations, hardening, etc).
