Yesterday I had another instance of this (or another bug). This time kwin wasn't killed (windows have their titles) but kwin was unresponsive. However I had keyboard and I was able to run 'kwin --replace' and then everything got ok.
I don't remember how I got to the terminal though. Either I was already there (konsole had focus) or Alt-Tab worked which strikes me as somewhat weird.
Unfortunately no logs for this new one.
I am not sure I am helping anyone with these awfully incomplete reports. I will try my best to run the reproducer. Maybe I would be able to report something more useful.
