I should state that I'm using the non-wifi version of this board. Whether this has any influence on the problem, I don't know. But at least the newer revision of the GA-Z77X-UD5H works with the ALSA drivers - which is no consolation to those of you with other versions/variants of this board...
Tested with Ubuntu 12.10 and the default configuration. Rear green line out and front panel headphone sockets work. Sound quality is good. SuSE 12.2 also has no problems.
