My CPU is capable of 130MB/sec AES-256. My drives, 119MB/sec write. Combine this into a dm-crypt volume: 11MB/sec (eleven megabytes per second [!]). Uh, this thing seems broken to me.
I'm using xfs on dm-crypt.
Anyone know if iostat can provide some useful information? I'm wondering about I/O thrashing like we have been seeing with grub and apt lately. Something is/was seriously wrong with those too.
