Multiple problems start happening when you change the key to show the launcher:
1. Changing the key to Ctrl+Super for example, then editing the shortcut again makes the Ctrl key appear unselected and you cannot remove the key except resetting it to the default value.
2. Grabbing a key combination which only exists of modifier keys like Ctrl, Shift or Alt does not work, because a "normal" key is expected by the key editor.
3. Once the key is changed to Shift+Super for example, a tap on Super will minimize the selected window, no matter which one is selected. The same happens when you change the combination to Ctrl+Super or Ctrl+Alt+Super.
I did not observe most of the above problems with Compiz 0.9.7.8.
