<HOST> resolves to <IP_OF_ETH0_SUBNET>
unit-get private-address -> <IP_OF_JUJU_BR0_SUBNET>

or I might have some of that the wrong way around - anyway having multiple configured nics is def the root cause, we just need to figure out a way forward on this with Juju 2.0 network spaces.
