Bug Description

1) $ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu oneiric (development branch)
Release: 11.10
It's daily updated
2) $ apt-cache policy pommed
pommed:
  Installed: 1.39~dfsg-1
  Candidate: 1.39~dfsg-1
  Version table:
 *** 1.39~dfsg-1 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
3) On pressing F5 and F6 keys (Macbook Pro keys for adjusting keyboard backlight), I should be able to reach 0% and 100% keyboard backlight
4) -By continuously pressing F5 I can reach 0% keyboard backlight but the Gnome/Unity popup indicator shows 100%
-If I am at 0% keyboard back-light and press F6 once, I immediately reach about 100% keyboard back-light and need to press F5 up to the desired value

Please let me know if you need additional data and where to find it

Same here with my MBP 8,2. I think that this happens in all MBP

I get this same behaviour, only it's F8 that is supposed to take me to 0% on my MBP 1,1.

F10 (my brighten button) takes me right up to 100%. One would think that this should be gradual.

The interesting thing is that both F9 (my dimmer button) and F8 (my cut-to-0% button) mirror each other in that they both perform the same function, gradually dimming the keyboard back-light, so I don't have cut-to-0% functionality.

And to make matters worse, when I do get to 0%, the alert image shows 100%.

This package is really wonky, to say the least.

For 3) & 4) above (0% --> 100% issue), could you please try if the following patch could solve it? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/913793
