Bug Description

When right clicking on a entry in the bookmarks menu, I expect to be presented with a context menu which would allow me to delete a bookmark, rename etc. Instead right click works like a left mouse click and sends me to the url over which the mouse hovers.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I was able to replicate the behavior you observe, however it would appear that this behavior is "by design", and I'm unsure whether menu items which are supposed to perform actions should also be expected to respond to right-click to get properties on them. It's something I haven't seen in any other user interfaces.

You can, of course, select "Show All Bookmarks" in the Bookmarks menu and work with your bookmarks there.

I'm marking your report "Wishlist" to indicate it's a feature request.

Thanks!

It cannot be "by design" since Firefox on Ubuntu Classic Gnome Desktop works as expected (brings up a context menu). Same thing happens for Firefox on Windows. All I want is to be able to easily delete a bookmark entry. It works for other OS, it works on Ubuntu Classic, why it does not work on Unity?

Just to make sure the problem is well understood: I would like to left click on the bookmarks menu, move the mouse over a url entry in the bookmarks menu that pops up than to right click in order to get to the menu which would allow me to delete or edit the respective bookmarks entry. This works on every other OS or other Linux desktop except for Unity.

Hi Radu,

I offer my apologies, I didn't verify this behavior under Ubuntu Classic, so I assumed it was always the case that you couldn't right-click on an entry.

I traced the fault to firefox-globalmenu, which is an add-on for Firefox which enables "global menu" integration; that is, making the Firefox menu bar appear on the top panel.

To reproduce, on a stock Ubuntu Natty installation:

1- Launch Firefox and go to the top panel to show the menus.
2- Right-click on any bookmark in the Bookmarks menu.

Desired behavior:
- A menu with options for the selected bookmark

Actual behavior:
- As if one had left-clicked on the entry, the browser starts loading it.

To obtain the desired behavior, disable the addon going to Tools -> Addons and clicking the "Disable" button under "Global Menu Bar Integration". However this, of course, disables the global menu bar on Firefox.

I'll mark this confirmed again (I was able to replicate the behavior) and setting importance to Medium as it has a "moderate impact on a core application". I'm also updating the description to mention firefox-globalmenu.

Thanks again and sorry for the confusion!
