In evolution's message preview pane the overlay scrollbar thumb does not appear on approach (only on hover)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity-2d

I opened Evolution. There are three panels. The first on left with e-mail accounts and e-mail folders, the second on right top with message titles and the third on right bottom with message bodies. On right top, to show the scrollbar, I mouse near the color bar. On right bottom, to show the scrollbar, I mouse near the color bar, then I expect the scrollbar to appear, but the scrollbar doesn't appear, then I mouse over the scrollbar and finally the scrollbar appears.

Thank you for your bug report. I'm also seeing the bevaviour you describe (Ubuntu 11.04, "normal" unity). I'm adding a bug task for evolution because possibly something is wrong in the way evolution uses the scroll bar.

I didn't understand... what do you mean with "I mouse over the scrollbar and finally the scrollbar appears."

As I previously confirmed the issue, I take the liberty to answer the question: In the upper right part (message list) of the evolution window, the scrollbar behaves as in other applications -- as soon as you approach the scrollbar the "thumb" appears when you are a couple of pixels away. This is different in the lower part (message preview), here the scrollbar appears only when you hover over the scrollbar itself, not if you are still some pixels away. I'll try to make a screenshot showing this.

I mean "then I mouse over the colorbar and finally the scrollbar appears" instead of "then I mouse over the scrollbar and finally the scrollbar appears".

I'm working on oneiric, and it's working fine with gtk+3. So, either in the development version of the scrollbars or an evolution bug itself, the issue is gone.
I'll try on natty again, with both an old and an updated version of the scrollbars. To see what fixed the bug ;)

Hmm.. I can confirm this on oneiric with the latest evolution too (3.1.2). Message preview pane shows the overlay, but the control widget doesn't appear as "early" as in the message list or folder tree panes; just when you actually hover over the orange scrollbar.
