Bug Description

Binary package hint: libflashsupport

libflashsupport causes crashes of adobe flash.

The known use cases for libflashsupport were:
 1. sound through pulse when flash didn't support the alsa pulse plugin (solved since flash 10)
 2. ltsp installs needed this for network sound.

As of 2008-10-17 12:00 UTC, both use cases now work correctly with libasound2-plugins in place of libflashsupport, so the latter's source and binary should be removed from the archive.

If this is obsolete, should it also be automatically removed by update-manager when upgrading to 8.10?

Yes, imo we should auto remove it if users havent installed
libflashsupport directly/manually.

With the current code in update-manager libflashsupport will be suggested for cleanup. However the user can cancel this step. I will add it to the list of stuff that the forcefully removed on upgrade because it hurts more than it helps and there is no reason to keep it.

just on a sidenote, ltsp flash sound works fine without libflashsupport installed with flash 10, i expect no regression due to the removal
