Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-manager
On Intrepid alpha, it is possible to set a custom MTU. In for example the edit gui for auto eth0 the default MTU size is automatic. When a user populates the field to 1492 which is a valid field population the GUI accepts the value but actually fails to implement it. If the user manually does a /etc/init.

Noting that this upstream bug also results in not being able to persistently set static IPs ontop of specific individual settings such as the MTU. I've nominated this for Intrepid's release.
