Bug Description
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501. I can change the laptop screen's brightness by echo-ing values such as 37 12 25 37 50 62 75 87 100 in /proc/acpi/
Running the hal scripts directly (I don't know if I'm supposed to do this):
$ sudo /usr/lib/
org.freedesktop
No ACPI method found
Using the latest Hardy Heron with 2.6.24-15-generic. The problem started occouring before the last kernel update.
When pressing the keys lshal -m says it's pressed twice, but nothing actually happens.
Thank you for reporting this bug. However, we still need some more information before we can pass it on to the developers. Could you please do the following?
Execute in a terminal the command lshal -m . This command is something like syslogd and will show all events from HAL.
Now press the buttons to set the brightness.
Please attach the output of the terminal command and the file /var/log/kern.log
Thanks in advance.
