Bug Description

SRU Request:

[Impact]
nvidia-304 and its -updates flavour don't work with the lts-xenial kernel, as the modules still rely on mtrr_add mtrr_del (dropped by Linux 4.3).

[Test Case]
1) Enable the trusty-proposed repository, and install the "linux-generic-lts-xenial"

2) Install one of the available nvidia-304 packages or, if the nvidia driver is already installed, dist-upgrade after adding the -proposed repository.

3) Restart and see if the system boots correctly. If unsure, please attach your /var/log/gpu-manager.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log

[Regression Potential]
Low, the packages include the very same patch that we have used in Xenial since its release.

Hello Alberto, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304/304.131-0ubuntu0.14.04.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.
