Bug Description

There has already been a significant number of Ubuntu supporters who have indicated that the lack of CalDav and CardDav support for the Ubuntu Touch Phone is a very serious deficiency impacting most negatively on the usefulness of this smartphone and hence its attractiveness to the market and its competitiveness with other offerings.

I am writing this to state that I totally agree with their opinion on this matter.

I believe it is imperative that the "Ubuntu Phone's" calendar be synchronised with a calendar on a Ubuntu Server. It is similarly important the phone's contact book also synchronise with the contact book on the server that is used for email clients such as Evolution and Thunderbird. This is fundamental to the functions of a smartphone and without it, the value of this phone is greatly degraded.

Please implement a user friendly solution for adding CalDAV synchronization.
There are multiple tutorials for CalDAV with syncevolution, but none of them covers Baikal as a server.
Even though there should be little difference, I can't get it to work.
Using syncevolution on the command line is confusing and cumbersome.

This might be very important for everybody who is using neither Google nor OwnCloud.

yes, we all agree it's important
this is a dupe
see the related bugs where we are tracking:
Owncloud online account plugin: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1570986
Contact sync plugin: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/buteo-syncfw/+bug/1571003/
Calendar sync plugin: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sync-monitor/+bug/1199774/

These are all tagged with "owncloud" and added to the Canonical Devices System Image backlog so they can be tracked for ota's that they will be ultimately marked for. There might be other existing bugs which I didn't see, if so we should mark as dupes of these I think.

There is no lp project yet (that I know about) for Storage Framework but will post on the list once that is created.

Only comment I have, now that I have registered my support for the other comments, is how much I appreciate the efforts of all. I wish I could do more myself to help.
