There has already been a significant number of Ubuntu supporters who have indicated that the lack of CalDav and CardDav support for the Ubuntu Touch Phone is a very serious deficiency impacting most negatively on the usefulness of this smartphone and hence its attractiveness to and competitiveness with other offerings in the marketplace.
I am writing this to state that I totally agree with their opinion on this matter.
I believe it is imperative that the Ubuntu Phone's calendar be synchronised with a calendar on a Ubuntu Server. It is similarly important the phones contact book also synchronise with the contact book on the server that is used for email clients such as Evolution and Thunderbird. This is fundamental to the functions of a smartphone and without it, the value of this phone is greatly degraded. |
