Bug Description

While using Chrome or Steam this artifact will show up randomly, being super-positioned on top of all other applications until Chrome or Steam is closed. Restarting Gala results in the present occupant of that space to become super-positioned. Gala shows no errors in my logs. This bug is also present on my laptop running Freya beta 1

What does running "xkill" in terminal and then clicking the artifact do?

Also, what video card brand do you have? And driver - default or custom/proprietary - do you use?

using xkill on it does nothing, however using it to kill chrome or steam specifically removes the artifact. My laptop and PC and are both just on integrated intel graphics, both i965. The laptop is running an old celeron while I'm on a new pentium. My laptop is running default repos drivers while my PC is on the Intel graphics installer repo.

Thanks for the info!

Cody reports that he has experienced this glitch as well. Marking confirmed.

Sounds like a rogue X11 window to me.

Was going through Gala's bugs and noticed this one I reported quite some time ago. Just wanted to note that this seems to no longer be an issue / has been fixed.
