Bug Description

When you choose one journal, you can see the list of articles in this journal.

1) It would be nice to implement in a journal :
a. the list of articles with titles, date and status
b. Each article should be contracted with the possibility to expand it
c. this list should have a sorting option by title, by date, by status

2) When multiple journals is on, there is no one click mecanism to switch from one journal to another. WE should have a list of journals displayed somehow or somewhere.

Great ideas for making the journal easier to use, Stéphane. I have a couple of questions to get a clearer sense of what you mean:

1. a and c: Are they essentially the same or what do you mean by a? I assume you want more of a tabular overview of the articles?

2. This already exists: When you have multiple journals turned on, you see the list of journals when you go to Content -> Journals. Or do you mean there should be a different display?

Changed in mahara:
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

Hi Kristina,

1. a is the list, c is the sorting function and yes they can be viewed as the same request.

2. Once you're in a blog post of a particular journal, there is no one click way of moving to another journal. You must first go back to the list of journals and then choose the journal you want to view. It's a 2 clicks operation. We have the same situation in plans and CDPS. It looks like there should be a list of journals, plans or cpd accessible from the menu like a third level menu :
Level 1 : Dashboard, <Content>, Portfolio, etc.
Level 2 : Profile, <journals>, CPDS, Plans, etc.
Level 3 : Journal 1, Journal 2, Journal 3, etc.

This way, a user could switch easily from one journal to another, from one plan to another, etc. in a one-click operation

Thank you for clarifying what you mean, Stéphane.

There is a wishlist item about breadcrumbs at bugs #784960 which could solve some issues, but not all of them of course. A third-level navigation is a bit tricky as not everyone works with drop-down menus, but we also have the tabbed navigation.

One problem with a one-click option is scaling. In this forum post, for instance, Don mentions having three pages of CPD's! https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=5892&offset=0&limit=10#post25169 . It wouldn't be practical to list them all for one-click purposes. This kind of thing seems to pop up everywhere in Mahara -- there's always a heavy user who winds up with 100 of something, whether it's CPDs, plans, pages, collections, files, tags, groups, etc.

There are some potential ways to address that, though. Like, if you have more than 10, just list the 10 most recently accessed ones, with maybe a "..." link to the full list.
