Your printer, the HL-2135 is not listed in the printer database and system- config- printer selects a similar model name, HL-2140. Problem is that your printer only understands PCL and the HL-2140 is a PostScript printer. This wrong selection makes your printer fed with PostScript which it does not understand, leading to a lot of blank pages. The HL-2035 is also a PCL-only printer and so selecting it manually makes your printer work. Keep this setting for now.
The bug is that your printer is not in the database and so a similar one is selected, which can lead to a bad choice in some cases. The best fix is to add your printer to the database, with the same capabilities as the HL-2035.
