Bug Description

Dup of bug 946899 ?

Hallo
Just try to watch an mp4 video in totem, then disks start spinning, unity freezed, mouse working, switched to tty to see what happens, noted that it was wasting resource to checking-new-rel (apport?), then disk spin go down, came back to UI and apport popup this.
run totem in gdb at the moment of the crash :
intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error
Thanks
fabio

Are you able to reliably reproduce it by playing that video in totem? If not, out of 10 tries how many times does it happen?

If you can repro it with that video (or another similar video), please attach to this bug or provide a pointer to an online source.

Has your system had other similar freezes recently, unrelated to video playback?

Bug 946899 just describes the symptoms of a GPU hang, but they can be caused by any number of underlying reasons so we treat each instance as a distinct bug unless the i915_error_state matches or upstream says it's a dupe.

Hallo Bryce
No I'm not able to reproduce this using totem.
My system never experience this issue before.
Never experienced freeze in Raring developement.
Describing better, initially I've noted the freeze of Unity, but X was working, then after some seconds, Unity and compiz wasn't working (launcher and windows borders disappeared as showed in the attached screenshot).
Also I've noted this in .xsessionerrors:

[mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.

[mi] These backtraces from mieqEnqueue may point to a culprit higher up the stack.
[mi] mieq is *NOT* the cause. It is a victim.

My stucks happens again, and actually the only sure thing is that they happens with the yideo player (Videos) and there seems they have trouble with libavcodec 53 (extra in my case).
Now i'm going to remove the 53-extras and install the 53 to see if fix.
