When re-scanning the library to add new songs, the existing files are displayed as duplicate values, i.e. songs are listed twice in the library.

Victor,

Just found out why the songs were being duplicated in the library. I had enabled the following option under preferences in Noise, "Copy files to Music folder when adding to library." This copied all the songs from the folder "songs" in the "Music" folder and pasted them in the Music" folder. Hence the duplicate values. Please find screen shots of the aforementioned preferences option and the library without duplicate values.

Noise should not have imported the original file and the copy.
