Bug Description

Currently within the shopping lens, partial searches of some words or phrases can result in potentially offensive results being displayed when the user's intention was not to perform that search. We should make it as unlikely as possible that this will happen.

Current strategy addresses only results from Amazon, and involves mostly server-side work; however, for this to be effective, the client needs to no longer strip trailing whitespace from search terms.

+1 this bug should be fix.
If not before quantal, it is after that, and on and on to next and next cycle doesn't matter how long it's gonna take.
But if, it takes long, I'm sure it will hurt ubuntu awareness in many ways.

p/s: I'm hoping "won't fix" Tag will never show up in this bug.

John, can you please describe the nature and implementation of the fix? And point to the source code? Unfortunately, the launchpad messages don't hyperlink directly to the changes.

Can someone confirm this fix and mark the duplicate bugs [https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-shopping/+bug/1054282] as FIXED (assuming they are)?

That duplicate bug is linked from at least one news article [http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/10/18/ubuntu_12_10_review/] and with the current WON'T FIX status is giving a very bad impression of Ubuntu.

i see no problem here: deactivate the amazon lens when minors are using the system: you don’t want them to be able to buy random stuff. and there is no problem in showing grown-ups “offensive” content AFAIK.
