Bug Description

HUD suppport for indicator-messages is broken, because it only indexes indicators which use dbusmenu. indicator-messages uses GMenuModel to export its menus.

Sorry but I still have this exact bug. Fully up tp date on 12.10.
indicator-appmenu = 12.10.3-0ubuntu1
indicator-messages = 12.10.4-0ubuntu1
HUD doesn't search indicator-messages.

Ok, the workaround for me is to restart unity after I've booted.

So boot and autologin.
Unity+indicator-multiload+indicator-cpufreq indicators+rsibreak+clipit+dropbx all autolaunch.

HUD doesn't include indicator-messages.

Then I simple do a unity --replace& and it works straight away.

At least I have a work around for now to make this work.
Could this bug be re-opened? Does anyone need any log messages for more info?

This bug is still reproducible on my system. It works immediately upon boot but then stops working some time later.

indicator-appmenu: 12.10.3-0ubuntu2.1

How can the bug be reopened?

Chandru, this bug was about the the HUD not supporting indicators that use GMenuModel (instead of dbusmenu) to export their menus. This has been fixed.

The problem you're referring to is tracked in bug #1072052. It happens because the HUD checks for exported menus once as soon as the indicators appear on the bus, but some indicators export their menus slightly later. You can work around this by executing

  killall hud-service

on the command line.
