Bug Description

1) login an account
2) just tell someone to send you a message

What I expect to see: the blue icon shows up, click on the friend name and automatically open the chat window with your contact's message.

Result: The window opens but there is no message in it. You must close the window, open Empathy, open a new chat window with that contact and see what he wrote.

The system is Ubuntu 12.04 amd64, everything updated.

This affects me as well. Can importance be raised? This makes using Empathy for office communications a major PITA. Im often missing messages from my coworkers. It was working fine when I was on 12.04 through 13.04, but when I did a fresh install (not an update) of 13.10, it is borked.

Ubuntu 13.10, Empathy 3.8.4

Changing to another theme (Boxes, Clean) fixed the problem.
