I'm the maintainer for the Debian geogebra package. The Debian package in unstable still needs some minor fixes, but it's nearly to ready.
Unfortunately, upstream isn't very happy about the fact that a package is available outside of their repositories. I'm trying to convince them that an official Debian or Ubuntu package cannot do other than attracting more users, make their live easier and have more testers. Stay tuned!
I'm not totally sure of how the Debian-to-Ubuntu synchronization works. If someone on the Ubuntu side is interested in doing it, he may be also interested in watching out for new versions coming out next days, as I think I'll introduce some changes and fixes.
