I can also confirm this problem.
AMD Sempron 2400+, ATI 9200se graphic card, which does not like plymouth and will not display the plymouth image properly, 2GB ram.
If I have not used the OOo quickstart during the session, I can shutdown, reboot, or logout with no problem. Once I have used the quickstart, any attempt to do either of those three activities does absolutely nothing; the desktop stays and will not go anywhere. If I disable or shutdown the OOo quickstart the computer shutdown, reboot or logout is OK.
In ubuntu versions up tp 9.04 it was possible to edit the shutdown commands in System -Administration-Login Window, but that option has gone for 9.10 and 10.04, since the new version of GDM. Can the commands be edited in some other way to allow a shutdown of OOo quickstart at shutdown?
