It is because "initrd.img" is made by "update-initramfs" command for every machine individually just before GRUB is configured. Since "migration-manager" crashed then no "initrd.img" was made.
"intrd.img" from LiveCD is for it and might load way to much "things" to memory during bootup so generate your own "initrd.img" by "sudo update-intramfs -u"
