Bug Description
Binary package hint: gvfs
When i mount a samba share through places -> network > windows network the owner group and permissions of files are unknown in nautilus. Various programs such as songbird and some other mediaplayers cannot make use of the samba share. This i already filed under bug #223032.
If i then do a "ls ~/.gvfs" ownership group and filepermissions are also incorrectly shown, but not unknown.
However, when i mount the samba share in the console through sudo mount -t cifs //netbiosname/
everything works fine. ownership group and permissions are correctly shown and the earlier mentioned programs work fine.
Haven't tried fstab yet but i believe it will work great.
I think a lot of users have the same issues and this should be fixed in new releases. New Linux users probably don't
want to mess with the command line and fstab etc. They just want a great Linux experience to share with other potential Linux converts.
