Hi David,
This is not a bug, but a consequence of the wiki markup which is underlying Zim page.
The markup syntax for italics uses double slashes at the beginning and the ending of the sentence, for example: //text in italics//.
You can try this copying the example above into a Zim page and pressing <Ctrl>+<R> to refresh the view and see the result.
When you apply italics markup in a web address such as http:// www.example. com, a problem arises because the double slashes before www are interpreted as markup symbols as well. You get the following raw text: www.example. com//. As a result only http: will be rendered as italics and the rest will be left as normal text, plus extra 2 slashes at the end.
//http://
A possible workaround for this issue, which is not perfect, nor elegant, is to type additional 4 slashes before www, for example: //http:// ////www. example. com//. Try this to see the result.
You can get more information on Zim wiki markup syntax and conventions in the Zim help page: zim-wiki. org/manual/ Help/Wiki_ Syntax. html
