Bug Description

Wasn't sure what section of Zeitgeist to put this in, feel free to move it if incorrect.

Scribus, the free, open-source page layout app, typically saves files in its own format (.sla). Zeitgeist doesn't appear to acknowledge the existence of .sla files, thus searching for them in, for example, Unity's Dash is a no-go.

Do files edited with Scribus show up under Places -> Recent Documents? (GNOME's, not Unity's).

affects: zeitgeist → zeitgeist-datasources

Hi Siegfriend, I just logged into the Ubuntu "Classic" desktop (i.e. GNOME) to check. No, .sla files do not appear under Places > Recent Documents.

OK, it looks like Scribus isn't informing the system of its load/save actions, so it'll either need to be patched or it needs a plugin.

Thanks for reporting this.

feel free to provide code to get this working... if possible, without adding any new dependencies to scribus!

please post the patch to the scribus bug tracker:

Is it possible to add an optional dependency to scribus which will be determined at build time and the Makefile will be generated automatically? Means the dependency added would be soft rather than hard

Some bad news

<m4n1sh> Does the python scripting API provide a way in which a script can be in background and hook into file open, file close events?
<jghali> lo, no
<jghali> scribus is not multithreaded so there is a long way to do before that will be possible

I don't think any patch which blocks the operation would be accepted
