Saving from a read-only inbox reports "0 messages saved"

Bug Description
1. Open a read-only mail folder such as inbox~ (with a tilde).
2. Select any message, type "s" (save), enter a destination mail folder, and press Enter.
3. The message gets saved to the destination mail folder. However, VM reports "0 messages saved to <mailbox>".
I am guessing that because the original folder is read-only, so it cannot update the source message's VM attributes, VM believes the save failed.
VM version is 8.2.0b on Ubuntu 13.10 with Emacs 23.4.1.
