Since years i use vlc for playing music from my minidlna nas (alt-f7). VLC has take around 5 minutes from first click on my nas symbol in the universal plugnplay list to first song and tree. Now with ubuntu 12.04b2 the vlc is doing 15 minutes of some meditation and net transfers, then it grey'ed out for some more minutes before the first song comes up.
I found this http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/4437 and it is the best description for this problem. There ist nothing else with this slowness. I use the android upnp-player app, radios from philips, reciva and noxon. All these devices needs around 30 - 45 seconds to the folders in my nas.
