Bug Description
Update-manager does not allow some updates (which require removal of other packages) to be installed right now. This behavior is fine, but the user is left without any information on why a specific update cannot be selected.
This is not a serious bug, but rather a wishlist item. Users of release versions of Ubuntu, without third-party repositories enabled are unlikely to see this happen ever, but additional information could be useful to users of pre-release versions of Ubuntu.

I'd like to second this, as it wasn't until reading this bug report that I actually understood why some updates are grayed-out.
