Bug Description
My girlfriends wanted to find some files, so she opened dash, wrote "*.ppt" there (she needed to find a huge bunch of .ppt files and copy most of them to usb stick), and didn't find anything since unity (it's search engine) doesn't scan the whole disk (which is good :-) for documents, but indexes only the used ones.
So I think there should be a way to:
1. at least make user to understand that this isn't "real full search"
2. maybe provide a button "search everywhere" that launches nautilus with search in home folder
Thank you.
Fixing bug 646724 (actually making the search search all files) would be one way of fixing this bug.

Nice idea. I've known many new users who were put off by the file search.
Marking needs-design.
