Bug Description
Release Ubuntu 12.10 (Radeon)
"Home|Ubuntu" not shown in dash and chromium icon on launcher shows "waiting to install" when mouse is hovered over it even though the installation is complete. See attached screenshot.
Follow the below steps:
* Open Chromium and go to a website, say ubuntu.com
* Go to the menu "File" -> "Create Application Shortcuts..."
* Select the checkbox "Applications Menu" (you can deselect the "Desktop" one)
* A new window is opened, and the launcher will continue matching it like a
chromium application.
* Close the chromium window.
* Open the dash and search for "chrom"
* An application called "Home | Ubuntu" should be shown
* Launch it
* Assert: The launcher will show an icon for the "Home | Ubuntu" application

Why would Home|Ubuntu be shown in the dash? You're referring to the Ubuntu web home page, right?
As for the Waiting to install part, it's covered as part of bug #1011681
