Bug Description
I had installed an application. I used "main menu" editor in gnome control center to add it to the menu. Unity menu bar doesn't show the recently added application launcher.

u-p-a actually detects that there are changes to the .desktop files in ~/local/ share/applicati ons. It discards the custom apps though because they don't have a Category field set. This is very much related to bug #635223 "Wine applications not listed in Unity Applications Place", but is not exactly a dupe.
