udd and native packages do not play nicely together

Bug Description

udd doesn't work well with native packages, such as computer-janitor. Two problems in particular occur frequently:

* You cannot merge between the Ubuntu branch and the trunk. E.g. ubuntu:computer-janitor and lp:computer-janitor have no common ancestor so you can't merge from the latter into the former.

* When someone commits changes to the Ubuntu branch, the version numbers can get skewed from the trunk. E.g. in the former, Matthias committed 2.0.4-0ubuntu2 to force a Python 2.7 rebuild, however when I committed fixes to the trunk, my 2.0.4-0ubuntu2 was a different change.

I don't know what the solution is, but I think right now you're pretty much forced to reconcile differences by hand. :(

You also can't use merge proposals effectively to trigger sponsor uploads to the distro because mp's against trunk don't include ~ubuntu-branches.

What you're meant to do here is ask james_w to bless the upstream as
basis for the import branch, and then it will sync things up.
